Ernest Lockett



Lance Corporal Lockett served with the 1st / 8th Battalion of the Worcestershire Regiment and died on the 25th February 1917, aged 31.


He was the husband of Mary Lockett, of 320 Priory Road, Southhampton.


The 1891 census shows that he was born in St George, which is where his father was working as a gamekeeper.


By 1911, has working as a dog kennel man with another gamekeeper in Lancashire.


Ernest is buried in the Thiepval Cemetery in the Somme, France.





After the War ended, Thiepval was chosen as the location for the Memorial to the Missing to commemorate those who died in the Somme sector before the 20th of March 1918 and have no known grave.
