Fresh Air Fridays

Every Friday afternoon the children in Class 1 go outside to learn and explore! The activities are child initiated facilitated by the teachers. We put on our wellies, waterproofs if needed and enjoy the fresh air!

We have made nests for the birds. This activity was child initiated from a lovely picture that was brought in by a Year 2 child. We thought about what materials would be best to use to build a birds nest and where would be a good place to put it so the birds would be safe.

Last week we listened to the story Stanley's Stick and heard all about the different things Stanley's stick could be. Stanley's options were endless! We then went over to our forest school area to find our own stick and use our imaginations as to what it could be! We learn't how to tie knots to make wands with ribbons, made our names using sticks and lots of the children role played with their sticks! Some sticks were even given a name!

This Friday was part of European Clean-Up Day so to keep our outdoor area tidy we started by collecting any rubbish that we found in the school grounds. Some children then helped paint and others helped with gardening; weeding and planting. The children were very excited when they saw all the minibeasts in the planters!
